Mrs. Ruben Clarissa Tabor Kennedy, 71, of Iredell County, N.C., entered into eternal rest on July 13, 2025, at her home. Clarissa was born on October 17, 1953, in Iredell County to the late Lamar Tabor and Clara Latten Tabor. She was a proud graduate of Statesville High School, Class of 1969. Clarissa was a dedicated worker and spent her career as an assembler at JCPenney and Western Electric, where her diligence and warmth touched many lives.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eddie Kennedy; her dear son, Trevor Desmond Tabor; her brother, Larry Joe Tabor; her sisters, Pearlie Elizabeth Tabor Davis and Hedy Lamar Tabor Rice; and her in-laws, Ellis Rice, Melwood Davis Jr., and Suprenna Tabor.

Clarissa’s memory will be cherished by her loving son, Corey Antoine Tabor; her treasured grandchildren, Cameron Joshua Oglesby and Tamiya C. Tabor; her devoted brothers, Danny Leon Tabor and Selwyn Todd Tabor; her loving sisters, Zanny Celeste Tabor and Debrasa Mitchell Tabor; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who were touched by her kind spirit and generous heart.

Clarissa had a passion for life and simple joys. She especially loved watching sports; tennis was her favorite, and she was a devoted fan of the Duke Blue Devils. Whether cheering during March Madness or catching a match at Wimbledon, she found happiness and excitement in the games she loved.

Clarissa lived a life rooted in faith and grace. She found deep comfort in the promises of God, especially in Psalm 91, which assures us:

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.

Her life was a testament to strength, devotion, and quiet faith. As we honor her legacy, we rejoice in knowing she now rests safely in the arms of the Almighty.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Highland Acres Church of Christ. Visitation will take place from 12 to 1 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
