With profound sadness and enduring love, we announce the passing of our cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Cynthia “Cindy” Diane Hanley. Known to many simply as “Nana,” Cindy passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, joy, and unconditional love.
Cindy was born to the late Bobby Lee Morrow and Colleen Menster Morrow and is now reunited in eternal peace with her beloved parents and her brother, Bobby Morrow. She is survived by her devoted husband and best friend, Dennis Eugene Hanley; her loving son Christopher Hanley (Bethany); and her treasured grandchildren, Ian Bryce, Calleigh Peyton, Carter Jaxon, and Gavin Austin Hanley. Her heart also extended to her grand-fur babies, and her bonus daughter, Bobbie Jean Randol, who brought her great joy.
Cindy is also survived by her siblings, brother Terry Hanley (Pam) and sister Sherry Yount, who shared in a lifetime of memories and laughter with her.
Cindy spent many decades with Goodyear in Statesville, N.C., where she was admired for her dedication, work ethic, and the genuine friendships she built with co-workers who became like family.
Nana had a heart unlike any other. She loved deeply, without judgment, and welcomed everyone with open arms and a sweet tea in hand. Her ability to make others feel seen and valued was a gift to all who knew her. Whether you were family, friend, or stranger, Cindy had a way of making you feel like you belonged.
She lived boldly and adventurously—never one to shy away from a thrill. Cindy loved roller coasters, skydiving, and spontaneous adventures. She found joy in the little things: the sun on her skin at the pool, a good book that swept her into another world, and the music of Bon Jovi—her forever favorite. She attended concerts with the same passion she brought to everything in life: full of energy, excitement, and love.
Cindy’s greatest pride was her grandchildren. She was their biggest fan. Being “Nana” wasn’t just a title—it was her heart’s greatest calling.
She loved BIG. That love will remain etched in the hearts of all who had the blessing of knowing her.
Per Cindy’s wishes, there will be no public service and no flowers. In her honor, the family invites those who wish to celebrate her memory to consider making a donation to their local Humane Society, a cause close to her heart.
Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home is serving the family.
Broke my heart to hear of her passing. Worked together for 27 years. She will be missed greatly. Great supervisor. Prayers to her family.
