
Dale McCurdy, 77, of the Vashti community, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025 at his home, surrounded by his family who loved him so dearly, following a brief illness.
Dale was born on September 27, 1948, in Iredell County, N.C., the son of the late Jack McCurdy and Ruby “Sarah” Childers McCurdy.
Dale faithfully attended Freedom Baptist Church in Hiddenite. He was a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed rabbit hunting, spending time with his friends, eating breakfast with his buddies, and eating lunch with his farmer friends. He enjoyed life to the fullest and having a good time no matter what was going on. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, telling funny old stories and making them laugh.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his a son-in-law, Bob Leenerts.
Those left to honor and cherish his memories include his wife, Brenda Barnwell McCurdy, with whom he celebrated 53 years of marriage on October 27; his daughters, Enita Leenerts, Tina Walker (Mark), and Jenny Davis (Jody); his son, Jason McCurdy (Sarah); his grandchildren, Atina Elder (Donny), Nici Leenerts, Jackson Walker, Dawson Walker (Amber), Gretchen Davis, Parker Davis, Zack McCurdy, Zander McCurdy, Camden McCurdy, and Carsyn McCurdy; one great grandson, Winston Walker; and a great granddaughter due in January; a sister, Tammy Ball (Frank); his nephews, Brandon Ball (Sierra), and Kevin Ball; great nephew, Mason Ball; great niece, Hadley Ball; a sister-in-law, Cindy Cole (Keith) and their children.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Freedom Baptist Church. Pastor Dr. Sam Vallini will officiate. Burial will follow in the Vashti Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 p.m. prior to the service.
Pallbearers include Greg Millsaps, Zac Schnitker, Jason Wike, Brent Smith, Wes Smith, and Brandon Ball. Honorary Pallbearers include: Charles Buchanan, John Cleary, Kevin Ball, Don Hammer, David Clanton, and Britten Stafford.
