David Melvin Danyels, 58, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Monday, July 21, 2025. He was born on September 17, 1966, in Iredell County to Doris “Jerolene” or “Dinky” Hager Danyels and the late Melvin Harlon Danyels Jr.

David was a graduate of Western Carolina University and a member of Mount Mourne Church of God. He had a love for the mountains, anything outdoors and a deep devotion for his family, especially his grandson, Harlon, who was his mini-me. Anyone who knew him knew that he loved animals, especially chickens. He was someone that you knew would be there when you needed him, and he would do anything he could to help anyone. His heart was especially big in helping the most vulnerable among us. David had his own style of dancing and singing. He would dance like no one was watching and sing like no one was listening. He believed in enjoying the moment and was a friend to anyone. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

In addition to his mother, those left to cherish David’s memory are his daughter, Chelsie Danyels; brothers, Richard “Rick” Danyels (Karen) of Mooresville, and Timothy “Tim” Danyels (Nancy) of Pendelton, S.C.; and his grandson and greatest joy, Harlon Danyels.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home with Pastor Donald Caldwell officiating.

As his last selfless act, David gave the gift of life by being an organ, tissue and eye donor.

In lieu of flowers, consider making a donation to Piedmont Animal Rescue. If you would like to sign up to also be an organ, tissue and eye donor in remembrance of David, you can sign up at Honorbridge.org/Registerme
