
Deborah “Debbie” Mayhew Fouts, 65, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on December 20, 2025.
Debbie was born on June 30, 1960, to the late James Taylor Mayhew and Coleene Woodie Mayhew of Mooresville, N.C. She graduated from Mooresville High School in 1978, and soon after attended King’s College in Charlotte, N.C., earning an associate degree in business. On December 2, 1978, she married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Mark Fouts. They were happily married for 39 years until he passed away in 2017. She retired from Iredell County Department of Social Services in 2022 after 36 years of employment. Debbie was a lifetime member of the First Wesleyan Church in Mooresville. She loved traveling from the mountains to the beach. Her favorite places to visit span from Daniel Boone Inn to the Sea Captain’s House. She was a lover of all things Christmas. She decorated her home with family made mementos that she treasured.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents, as well as her brother, Harold Jay Mayhew, and her nephew, Ryan Keith Mayhew.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Mark Fouts, Jr. and Michelle Fouts Carroll (Allen), both of Statesville, N.C.; and one sister, Laurie Mayhew Wensil (Billy) of Concord, N.C. She also leaves behind one grandson, Bryce Carroll, who was her pride and joy. Bryce was the twinkle in her eyes! Bryce loved his “Mimi” beyond words and will miss her sweet hugs.
Debbie also leaves behind numerous nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will forever cherish her memory and legacy.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home in Mooresville, N.C. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 23, at 2 p.m. at the First Wesleyan Church in Mooresville. Immediately following the service, Debbie will be laid to rest at Glenwood Memorial Park.
