Debra “Debbie” Lynn Deaton Brannon, 72, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. She was born on October 5, 1952, in Mooresville to the late Lucille Thompson Deaton and Robert Sloan Deaton.
After graduating from Queens College with her associate degree, Debbie began her career at Davidson College, working in the then-called secretarial pool. Over the years many of the women in this secretarial pool became lifelong friends. Often referred to as “the cronies,” these ladies routinely eat lunch together and continued to meet monthly for breakfast after retirement. As a lifelong member of Central United Methodist Church, Debbie played an important role in her church family as well as the Mooresville community.
In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her sister Lynda Deaton Keller.
She is survived by her daughter, Hailey Brannon; son, Jade Brannon; sister, Sheila Atwell (Mike); nephew, Phillip Atwell (Carolyn); niece, Meredith Suther Hicks (Landon); and her grand dog, River, among many other grand animals.
Receiving friends will be from 2 to 3 p.m. with a service following at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2025, in the Heritage House located at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home & Crematory, 494 East Plaza Drive Hwy 150, Mooresville, NC 28115. Officiating the service will be Rev. Anita Sain and Ordained Minister Hailey Brannon.
