Diane Oleksa McFarland, 88, passed away on October 25, 2025, at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Mooresville, N.C. A devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend, Diane lived a life defined by compassion, service, and love.

She was born on June 10, 1937 in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late James Oleksa and Agnes Giesin Oleksa. She graduated as a registered nurse from Brooklyn College. Diane dedicated her career to nursing, caring for others with the same warmth and kindness that she shared with everyone she met. Outside of her work, she found her greatest joy in spending time with family, friends and beloved pets.

Diane will be remembered for her kind and generous heart, her endless stories, and her ability to make everyone feel seen and heard.

In addition to her parents, Diane was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Jerry McFarland, her sister Carol Oleksa, and sister-in-law Helen Oleksa.

She is survived by her brother Jim Oleksa, children Scott McFarland (Barbara) and Jamie McFarland; grandchildren Katelyn, Brooke, Megan, Kevin, and Chris; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and pets.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
