Mary “Diane” Sherrill Mason, 79, of Statesville, N.C., crossed over to her heavenly home on Monday May 26, 2025, at the S. Mitchell Mack hospice house in Mooresville, N.C.

Diane was born August 23, 1945, to the late Fred Sherrill and Mary Helen “Peck” Morrow Sherrill.

She was a lifelong dedicated member of New Amity A.R.P., where she made a joyful noise in the choir for many years.

Diane was preceded in death by her brother, Dale Sherrill, and sister-in-law, Barbara Sherrill. She was also preceded by her loving husband of 55 years, Danny “Ray” Mason Sr.; a granddaughter, Misty Mason; and a grandson Aden Jacks Mason.

Diane is survived by survived by four sons, “Danny” Ray Mason Jr. of Statesville, David Lee Mason of Statesville, Damon W. Mason (Robin) of Mocksville, and Darron Mason (Christy) of Statesville. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren that she showered with love and created memories that will make them smile for the rest of their lives and 13 great grandchildren.

During her life, she worked as a CNA at Davis Hospital, a hairdresser, a lunch lady, and a homemaker. She was a true redhead with a fiery spirit and hands that needed to stay busy. She loved and cared for many family members during her lifetime and was the heart of her family. She made many beautiful baby blankets and quilts over the years that will be cherished for generations. It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Diane, but her memory will leave happiness in the hearts of the ones that she loved, and joy in the knowledge that she is now in the arms of her Lord and Savior, and enjoying reunions with loved ones in heaven.
