Donald Arthur Paulus, 83, passed away on May 20, 2025, at the Levine and Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, N.C. He was born on May 7, 1942, in Elkhart, Ind., to Arthur Lamar and Helen Mabel (Eby) Paulus and graduated from Wakarusa High School with the Class of 1960.

He attended Goshen College for two years and served six years in the Indiana National Guard. Don married Tanya Rose (Baker) Paulus on December 15, 1967. He was an active member of the Indiana Holstein Association, building his own award-winning Holstein dairy herd in Middlebury, Ind., with all four children active in the Elkhart County 4-H Dairy Club. Don was a dedicated Notre Dame and Indianapolis Colts fan. After his retirement from Markline Industries in 2017, he and Tanya settled in Concord, N.C.

Surviving is his beloved wife Tanya of Concord; son David Jacob Lee Paulus, of Springfield, S.D.(grandchild Braedyn Matthew Neri); daughter Trena Paulus (David Atkins) of Johnson City, Tenn. (grandchildren Ernest and Kate Atkins); daughter Heidi (Robert) Miller of Glendale, Ariz. (grandchildren Phoenix, Oscar, Daisy, and Faith Obbs; Tasha Campanaro, Kelly Dewhurst (deceased), Tanner, Anthony (Jenny), Kendra, and Cassandra Miller); and nine great-grandchildren; and daughter Robin VanGundy, of Charlotte, N.C. (granddaughter Marijka VanGundy); sister Carolyn Jesse of Elkhart, Ind.; brother Dennis (Mary) Paulus of Elkhart, Ind.; and brother Byron (Sue) Paulus of Niles, Mich. Don also leaves behind numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Lamar and Helen Mabel (Eby) Paulus; sisters Marilyn Elaine Paulus and Dawn Marie Paulus; brothers Robert Duane Paulus and Carl “Fred” Paulus; and brother-in-law Jack L. Jesse.

Visitation will be on Saturday May 31, 2025, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 S. Main Street, Middlebury, Ind. A private graveside service for the family will be held immediately following visitation at Grace Lawn Cemetery in Middlebury.
