Dorothy Eugene Halyburton Beatty, 102, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Iredell Memorial Hospital. A native of Iredell County, she was born on December 16, 1922, to the late John Russell Halyburton and Mary Bell Austin Halyburton. She was also preceded in death by her brother, John Gilbert Halyburton.
Dorothy loved flowers—especially pink geraniums. Farm life, cooking, and hard work were the foundation of her long life, one blessed with good health and joy. She enjoyed watching animals, particularly birds, but above all, she cherished her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Jean Watt of Salem, Va., and Angela Joy Campbell of Statesville; two grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home in Statesville on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 1 until 2 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Earl Linderman and Pastor Boone McAuley officiating. Interment will follow at New Sterling ARP Church Cemetery in Stony Point, N.C.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to The Gardens of Statesville Senior Living Community and its staff for the loving care and kindness they showed Dorothy throughout the many years she lived there.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625 or at www.hoic.org.
