
Edgar “Tuck” Lazenby, 89, of Statesville, N.C., went to his heavenly home on December 3, 2025, at the Gordon Hospice House. He was born on February 20, 1936, in Statesville to the late Harold Franklin Lazenby and Vallie Marie Harmon Lazenby Hooks.
Tuck married Judith “Judy” Ann Lazenby on October 5, 1956, and enjoyed almost 60 years of marriage before her passing. Tuck worked alongside his mother in the family business, Lazenby Insurance Agency, and ran the company with his wife Judy for over 50 years.
Tuck was a dedicated member at First Baptist Church in Statesville. He was also active in the community, serving in numerous leadership roles with the Statesville Civitan Club for over 30 years. Tuck and Judy were charter members of the Weekend in the Village Board of Directors for over 18 years. He had a love for gardening with a special interest in growing hostas and lenten-roses and was skilled with woodworking, building many pieces of furniture over the years.
Tuck is survived by his two daughters, Sherry Lazenby Blackwelder (Dale) and Sandy Lazenby, both of Statesville; a grandson, Lee Blackwelder (Kara) of Iron Station, N.C.; a granddaughter, Karen Blackwelder Merchant (Shelby) of Cary, N.C.; three great granddaughters, Aubrie and Emery Blackwelder, and Autumn Merchant; and a great grandson, Brecken Merchant.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 11, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Nicholson Funeral Home.
