Ella Rena Boggs Dahl, 76, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on December 26, 2025, at Novant HealthCare Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte. A native of Iredell County, she was the daughter of the late Harvey Wenton Davidson and Gretel Ardith Spears Davidson.

Rena was a giving and loving person who deeply cherished her family. She had a strong-willed spirit, a clear sense of how she wanted things done and a presence that was impossible to miss. In her free time, Rena enjoyed camping and traveling by motor home.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, William Gerald Boggs.

She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Leon James Dahl; her son, William Kent Boggs (Sara) of Gastonia; her sister, Wanda Scruggs (Roger) of Belmont; and three grandchildren, Alex Boggs, Spencer Denton, and Lucy Boggs.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 5, 2026, from 1 until 2 p.m. at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home in Statesville. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home, with Pastor Bill Troutman officiating.

A service of committal will be held at Mt. Sinai Evangelical Methodist Church Cemetery (Fairmount Road) in Statesville immediately following the funeral service. Rena will be interred next to her first husband, William Gerald Boggs.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
