Floyd Preston Witherspoon, 90, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center.

He was born on March 18, 1935, in Iredell County, N.C., to the late Floyd and Hazel Jackson Witherspoon. Mr. Witherspoon was a veteran, serving proudly in the U.S. Navy. He was a retired foreman with Duke Power.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Tommy Witherspoon, Bobby Witherspoon, Billy Witherspoon, and Ray Witherspoon; and sisters, Irene Huffman and Mamie Lee Witherspoon.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Phyllis Westmoreland Witherspoon; children, Lynda Witherspoon, Brian Witherspoon, and Darrin Witherspoon; grandchildren, Preston Witherspoon and Natalie Witherspoon; great granddaughter, Sophia Witherspoon Wilsey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at his happy place.
