Frances Coughlin, 82, of Mooresville, N.C., and formerly of The Villages, Fla., passed away on July 17, 2025, at Novant Health in Huntersville, N.C.
Fran was born on December 28, 1942, in Syracuse, N.Y., to the late Frank and Angeline (Sauro) Barbieri. She attended Fairmount Elementary School, where she met her future husband, Dan Coughlin in the sixth grade; they both graduated from West Genesee Central High School in 1960.
In addition to raising her children, Fran had a passion for sewing. She was so talented that her daughter Patti asked her to make her wedding dress. Fran also held various positions throughout the years at Syracuse University, Bristol Myers, and Hydra-Co.
Dan and Fran were avid members of the Disney Vacation Club, and they loved their yearly trips with their children and grandchildren. Fran enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at their home in Florida. She especially treasured the visits with her grandchildren, going for rides in the golf cart, and swimming in the pool.
Fran was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years, Dan Coughlin; beloved daughter, Patti Cavanaugh; her sisters, Lee (Barbieri) Yamayoshi (Eddie), and Mickey Barbieri (Frank); and her daughter-in-law, Terri Ann Coughlin.
Fran is survived by her sons, James Coughlin and Kevin Coughlin (Allison); grandchildren Christopher Cavanaugh (Morgan), Rayne Coughlin, Christopher Schardan, Lauren Cavanaugh, Andrew Coughlin, Eris Coughlin and Ryan Coughlin; great-grandchild Nolan Schardan; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 31, at 9:30 a.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, 494 E. Plaza Drive, Mooresville, NC 28115. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Therese Catholic Church, 217 Brawley School Road, Mooresville, NC 28117.
