Harold Franklin “Frank” Handy, 77, passed away peacefully at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, N.C., on Sunday , October 5, 2025. Frank was born on October 21, 1947, in Wilkes County, N.C., to the late Virgel Ray Handy and Irene Shumate Handy.
For over 50 years, Frank shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife Sandra. Together, they built a home full of love and many cherished memories with their children, Tracy Franklin and Barbara. He found joy in the simple things, such as mornings spent with his coffee group, days working around his little farm, and caring for his beloved horse, Sadie, and his loyal dog, Blackie. He took pride in keeping his land and animals well cared for. Frank never met a stranger— his loving personality and sense of humor made everyone feel like a friend.
Frank proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a Vietnam veteran. His service reflected the same strength, loyalty, and dedication he brought to every part of his life.
Frank worked as a truck driver for over 40 years, traveling all across the U.S. and Canada.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Tracy Handy and Reavis Handy; sister, Mamie Sprinkle; and his late Blueheeler Trixie.
Frank will live in our hearts forever.
