Frank Howard Long Jr., 76, of Stony Point, N.C., passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, N.C..

Frank was born February 26, 1949, in Iredell County to the late Frank Howard Long Sr. and Hazel Munday Long. He was a graduate of North Iredell High School Class of 1967, and he attended Mitchell Community College and Appalachian State University. On February 26, 1972, he married Susan “Ginger” Mahala Long, who survives. For a number of years, he and Ginger operated numerous restaurants in the Statesville area. Frank was a former member of the Iredell County Rescue Squad and the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office and was a lifelong member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He grew up in the Monticello Church and was a member of the Agape Faith Church. Before retiring, Frank was a driver for the ICATS in Iredell County.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Dennis Long of Statesville, Michelle Long McIntyre (Syd) of Statesville, Shannon Long Dagenhart of Stony Point, and Jeremy Franklin Long of Statesville; and grandchildren, Sydney, Brandon, Summer, Cooper, Jennifer, Justin, Caden, and Chase.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, at Monticello Church with Rev. J.B. Whitfield and Rev. Chris Leab officiating. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 1:30 until 3 p.m.
