George Allen Jones, 80, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Mountain Valley Hospice House.

George was born on September 25, 1945, to the late George N. Jones and Norma Frazier Jones. After graduating from the University of North Carolina – Charlotte, he served in the U.S. Army then worked as an Engineer for the City of Charlotte. He enjoyed spending his free time reading, gardening, growing flowers, birdwatching and hiking.

Left to cherish his memory are his longtime companion and caregiver, Edna “Edy” Shupe; son, Tom Jones; daughter, Melanie Freeze; one sister, Neddie Rader; four half-sisters and two half-brothers; several grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by a daughter, Briana Jones; a sister, Joyce Williams; and a half-brother.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 19, 2025, in the Troutman Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Chaplain Greg Anderson of Mountain Valley Hospice.
