Gerald “Jerry” Williams, 84, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus on Tuesday afternoon, July 8, 2025.
Jerry is the beloved husband of Joan Williams, and father of Wendy (Larry) Snowberger and Kristi Williams; a grandfather to Kevin (Erin) Snowberger, Shawn (Ceejay) Snowberger, and Ryan (Anna) Snowberger; and several great grandchildren. Jerry is survived by his brother, Richard (Phuong) Williams and Mary Jane Friday. Jerry was preceded in death by his brother Thomas, and parents Thomas and Katherine. Jerry also leaves behind an extended family that he dearly loved. As a stranger to nobody that has ever crossed paths with Jerry, he leaves behind many treasured friends both near and far.
Jerry served in the United States Army Reserves following high school graduation and was honorably discharged at the end of his enlisted duty. Jerry went on to work for the railroad, starting out as a brakeman before working as a conductor for the majority of his career, with most of his time working for Conrail.
The family takes comfort in knowing that preceding his sudden death, Jerry spent an incredibly joyous weekend with his family celebrating his grandson Ryan and new granddaughter Anna’s wedding surrounded by loved ones. Among the joy, Jerry even commented that his life was complete and he could die happily knowing all of his grandchildren were happily married and doing amazing. Our family could not grasp how prophetic that statement would come to be, but we take comfort in his outlook on life.
To the very end, Jerry was doing what he loved – mowing his well-kept yard earlier in the day, having one of his favorite lunches, and packing for his annual summer getaway with his wife in Upstate New York, enjoying one of his favorite pastimes, fishing Lake Ontario.
The family is blessed for the lifetime they had with Jerry, and especially grateful for the most recent weekend where he was able to gather with extended family.
