Gladys Redmond entered into eternal life on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, N.C. She was born in Iredell County on July 22, 1938, and was the daughter of the late David Henry Redmond and Sally Mae Dobbins Redmond.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Valerie Gayle Redmond Ikard; a grandson, Jadarius Ikard; a nephew, Zanwea Kpan; and four brothers, Charles Wesley Redmond, James Henry Redmond, Larry Redmond and Avon Eugene Redmond.

Gladys was a graduate of Morningside High School and Johnson C. Smith University. She was a member of New Life Missionary Baptist Church in Troutman.

She leaves to cherish the memory of her life one son, Craig (Teresa) Redmond of Statesville; two daughters, Janet (Stanley) Rucker of Georgia and Dr. Latasha Christina Redmond of Washington; a sister, Gwendolyn Redmond Kpan of Columbia, S.C.; a special niece, Felicia “FeFe” Redmond; a goddaughter, Marisha Frazier; a sister-in-law, Barbara Frazier Carpenter; special nieces and nephews whom she helped raise, Larmie Kpan, Jovonna Redmond, Brandon Redmond and Bryan McIntyre; and special friends, Peggy Lackey and Jewel Flowers; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, a great great grandchild; other nieces, other nephews, cousins, The New Life Church Family; other relatives, neighbors and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 2 p.m. at New Life Missionary Baptist Church in Troutman. Reverend Ivan Cowan, Pastor, will officiate and Reverend Norman Mundy will eulogize. Burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery in Statesville.

Ms. Redmond will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state at 12:30 p.m. Members of the family will receive friends at the church from 1 until 2 p.m., but will assemble at the residence of her son, Craig (Teresa) Redmond, 822 Old Mountain Road, Statesville, N.C., at other times.
