Grady Lester Mayhew, 86, born December 3, 1939, and passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on December 9, 2025.

He struggled with some disabilities for the last two years but managed to pull through them. Grady will be remembered for his good spirits. He enjoyed life with a sense of humor. He was full of kindness. Grady was an avid Panthers fan. His legacy will live on with the love he shared and the memories we will cherish forever.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ford and Irene Mayhew; and a sister, Diane Day.

Grady is survived by his two daughters, Myra Caldwell (Scott) and Cindy Hawkins; brother, Ricky Mayhew; brother-in-law, Dick Day; grandchildren, Josh Williams, Cammie Hornaday, Nicole Hawkins, Holli Hawkins, Hannah Hawkins; great grandchildren, Will Williams, Aeriel Williams, Lily Hornaday, Maddie Hornaday, Cameron Curlee, Bryan Yoder, Connor Norton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 14, from 2 to 3 p.m. with a service following at 3 p.m. at McKendree United Methodist Church with Rev. Chad Nelson officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
