Grayson James Query, 24, of Beaufort, N.C., and formerly of Mooresville, N.C., went to be with the Lord on September 17, 2025.

Grayson was in the food services industry, working at both Queen Anne’s Revenge Restaurant and Beaufort Grocery in Beaufort, N.C.

Grayson graduated from the NASCAR Technical Institute in Mooresville in 2021, and from Mooresville Senior High School in 2018, where he was a member of the ROTC.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Robert “Demp” Starrette, and his maternal grandmother, Mary Alice Starrette.

He is survived by his father, Paul Brian Query; mother, Karen Starrette Goodman (Todd); brother, Jon-Paul Aaron Query; paternal grandfather, Raymond Milton Query; paternal grandmother, Alice Barnes Query; uncle, James Robert Starrette; aunt, Donna Starrette Somers; aunt, Emily Query Muller (Kevin); and cousins, Lola Elizabeth Muller and Lucas Barnes Muller.

Grayson loved living at the beach with Aunt Donna. He enjoyed being in the kitchen cooking favorite meals, fishing, putting together Lego sets, and spending time with family and friends. Grayson also enjoyed visiting the NC Mountains (Cherokee) with his mother, Karen, and going to the gun range with his father, Paul, and close friends.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, September 27, from 12 to 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Mooresville. Services will be at 2 p.m. with Pastor Seth Denney officiating. Burial will follow the service at Williamson’s Chapel UMC Cemetery.
