
Harold Dean Henderson, 89, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on December 8, 2025, at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House, leaving behind a legacy of love and service. Born on August 20, 1936, in Asheville, N.C., he was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who touched the lives of all who knew him.
A devoted veteran, Harold served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany, reflecting his commitment to his country. After his military service, he dedicated 28 years to the U.S. Postal Service as a clerk, where his work ethic and sense of responsibility shone brightly.
Harold is survived by his cherished wife of 68 years, Berlene Keever Henderson; their daughter, Denea Dougherty (Daniel); sister, Millie Fore (Ray) of Fletcher, N.C.; and beloved grandchildren, Corrine Dougherty and Cody Dougherty (Rebecca). His family was his pride and joy, and he instilled in them the values of kindness, integrity, and hard work.
Funeral services for Harold will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Calvary Baptist Church in Statesville, where Rev. Dr. Chris Haizlip and Rev. Dermont Crabtree will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon prior to the service, providing an opportunity for the community to come together to celebrate Harold’s life and the profound impact he made on those around him. Harold will be honored with burial at Salisbury National Cemetery, a fitting tribute for a man who served his country with pride.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 504 Whites Mill Road, Statesville, NC 28677, or to the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House, 1325 Mecklenburg Hwy., Mooresville, NC 28115, in recognition of the compassionate care he received.
