Herman Eugene Williams, born on September 29,1983, in Cable County, W.Va., was sent to his eternal home on August 31, 2025. He passed away unexpectedly in the Alexander County jail in Taylorsville, N.C.
Bub, as he was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him, His journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Bub was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Messer, as well as his sister, Jeanie Williams, and her unborn son.
Those left to cherish and honor Bub’s memories include his daughter, Lauren Williams (Quay); his granddaughter, Amillia Daniels; his dad, Herman Williams (Jeraldine); his step-dad, Terry “Buck” Messer (Becky); his sisters, Lori James (Matt), Cindy Williams, Dee Dee Williams, and Jessica Williams; and a number of nieces and nephews who knew his a “Uncle Bib,” as well as his ex-wife, Stephanie Williams.
Outside of hanging out with his family, Bub was a good mechanic. His true love was working on cars and drag racing with his step-dad “Buck.” Growing up, they would spend every waking hour either in the garage or at Farmington Drag Strip where they would race their bright blue Chevy choptop S-10, which they built together. He also enjoyed outdoor activities such as boating, fishing, hunting, and hanging out by a fire. Bub was always up for an adventure. Those who knew Bub will remember him for his infectious smile and overwhelming laughter, his deep-rooted faith in Jesus, and his unwavering commitment to spreading love and kindness to everyone he encountered. He had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path. He will forever be loved and missed!!
