Irena Dlouhy, 86, of Mooresville, N.C., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 23, 2025 at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House.

Irena was born on May 11, 1939 in Řepin, Czech Republic, to the late Růžena and Karel Franc. She escaped communism with her husband Vaclav and two young sons and a daughter in 1969, immigrating to Maryland, where they had another daughter. She and Vaclav moved to Mooresville in 2010 to enjoy retirement and be near their younger daughter and family. She attended the Cove Church in Mooresville. She enjoyed being with her family, gardening, traveling, baking, and polka music. She worked as gardener for the Rouse Company in Columbia, Md.

In addition to her parents and all her siblings, she was preceded in death by her husband Vaclav; daughter, Irene Havy; and grandson, Cameron Havy.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Ron Dlouhy and Jane Hamelink of Michigan, John Dlouhy of Maryland, and Jane and Tim Simons of Mooresville; and grandchildren, Ashley Havy, Brooke Havy, Ella Simons, and Jack Simons.

The family will receive friends at a Memorial Service to be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at 12 noon in the Cavin-Cook Chapel with Rev. Larry Paulk officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House, 1325 Mecklenburg Highway, Mooresville, NC 28115.
