Jeanette Watts, 89, passed on to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain, N.C., surrounded by loving family members. Raised in Mooresville, N.C., she was one of nine siblings. She retired from BellSouth, where she worked as the first female communications consultant.
Jeanette loved her family and was a doting grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved the beach and the mountains and spent many years visiting both with her sisters, son and grandchildren. Those were her cherished memories.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Inez Petrea; her sisters, Margaret, Elsie, and Nancy and her brothers, Tom and Fred.
She is survived by her only son, Jarrett “Denny” Swearengin (Dawn); her sister, Polly; and brothers, Joe and Pete (Carolyn); grandchildren Jessica Sheley (Mike), Jarret Swearengin (Alisha) and Alexis Swearengin (McKinley). Also surviving are two step-grandchildren, Steven Jackson (Sirey) and Leigh Randall (Riley); her precious great-grandchildren, Shelby Grace, Wyatt, Willie, Peyton, Forest, and Coraline; and her step great-grandchildren, Chase, Lilly Grace, Riley, Pierce, and Colt.
A memorial service will be held at Shearer Presbyterian Church, Mooresville, N.C., on Friday, August 1, 2025, at 2 p.m.
