Jeannette Morrison peacefully transitioned from this life on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, N.C. She was lovingly surrounded by her devoted daughter. Born on April 18, 1941, in Iredell County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Reuel and Ella Mae Gray.

Jeannette graduated from Morningside High School in 1959 and later attended Barber-Scotia College in Concord, N.C. She worked faithfully in Iredell County until her well-earned retirement.

A lifelong member of Holsey Memorial CME Church, Jeannette joined at an early age and remained a dedicated and active member throughout her life. Her steadfast faith and love for her church family were evident in the many roles she fulfilled, including serving on the Steward Board, Pastor’s Aid Board, Benevolent Committee, and the Women’s Missionary Society.

As a member of the Steward Board, Jeannette worked diligently to support the financial integrity of the church with her keen attention to detail. She brought comfort and care through the Pastor’s Aid Board and Benevolent Committee, offering support to church leaders and grieving families alike—always with grace, compassion, and a servant’s heart.

Beyond the church, Jeannette was equally devoted to her family and friends. She cherished time spent with her loved ones—whether taking her Aunt Gene to the grocery store, sharing long phone conversations, or offering uplifting words to her nieces and nephews. She was known for her warm smile, sharp wit, and an infectious laugh that brought light to those around her.

Jeannette was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry H. Morrison; her parents; and siblings, Elizabeth Gray Keaton and William Leon Gray.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter, Janet L. Morrison; sister, Mary G. Smith; brother, John H. Gray (Minnie); brother-in-law, William G. Keaton; sister-in-law, Janice M. Gray; a host of nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Markeatha Dawn Murphy, and great-nephew, Jordan Gray Murphy, who were like a bonus daughter and grandson to her. She is also remembered fondly by special friends and classmates, Claretha S. Spann and Brenda H. Sadler, along with many other family members, church members, and friends whose lives she touched.

Jeannette Morrison’s life was a testament to faith, love, and service. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
