Jeannie Rene Smith Johnson, 57, of Taylorsville, N.C., passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2025, after an extended sickness at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory, N.C.

She was born February 22, 1968, the daughter of the late Denny Harold Smith Sr. and Bonita Kay Lane Smith.

Jeannie was of the Baptist faith and a former employee of Millersville Child Development Center, where she was a Pre-K 2 teacher for many years. Her hobbies were drawing, writing and going to plays and shows.

She was preceded in death by her father, Denny Harold Smith Sr., and her mother, Bonita Kay Lane Smith, both from Herndon, W.Va.; and her brother, Mark Allen Smith, and his wife Rebecca Smith, both of Mullens, W.Va.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband, Kenneth Johnson of the home; her son and his wife Mr. and Mrs. Brandon Ray Miller of Charleston, W.Va., and their children, Amelia and Asher; her brother, Denny Harold Smith Jr., and his wife Teresa from Bumpass, Va.; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will do a Celebration of Life Service at 12 noon on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Millersville Baptist Church of Taylorsville. All who wish to come are invited to come help us remember her. Pastor Bill Orren will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 12 noon prior to the service.
