Jessie Arthur Brooks, 85, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025

Mr. Brooks was born in Tennessee on April 13, 1940 to the late Edward Brooks and Hattie Lane Brooks. Jessie was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and hard work. He was the oldest of 13 children and was known for his big heart and unforgettable sense of humor. Jessie was a skilled carpenter for over 30 years. His craftsmanship and dedication to his work were matched only by the love he provided to his family. In 1970, Jessie married the love of his life, Rebecca, and together they shared 37 beautiful years of marriage until her passing in 2007. Their love story was one of deep devotion, and Jessie never stopped cherishing her memory. He was affectionately known as “PawPaw” to his grandchildren, whom he loved and adored. His happiest moments were spent surrounded by family—fishing by the water, enjoying the beach, and sharing stories that brought smiles and laughter to all. A devoted husband, a proud father, and a loving grandfather, Jessie had a warmth, humor, and steady presence that will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

Jessie was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Brooks and Hattie Lane Brooks; beloved wife, Eunice Rebecca Johnson Brooks; son, Johnny Benton; and siblings, Doris Brooks, Bobby Gene Brooks, William Brooks, Jimmy Brooks and Ronald Brooks.

Left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Sam Brooks (Allison) and David Brooks; two daughters, Cathy Swanger (Glen) and Lori Presley; grandchildren, John, Brady, Bradley, Anthony, Mikey, Brandon, Jessi, and Hunter; great grandchildren, Quinn, Kinsley, Aidan, and Noel; siblings, Jewlene Brooks, Faye Brooks, Sherry Brooks, Arnold Brooks, Donnie Brooks, Roger Brooks and Mooney Brooks; sister-in-law, Laura Davis (Bobby); and many many nieces and nephews.
