John Henry Henderson, 78, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on November 26, 2025, at the Gordon Hospice House. A native of Iredell County, he was born on March 10, 1947, the son of the late John Blake Henderson and Garnette Miller Henderson.

John graduated from Harmony High School in 1966 and furthered his education at Mitchell Community College. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy Reserves in Guam from 1968 to 1970. Following his military service, John drove a truck for most of his career, working for Holly Farms, Freightliner, and J.T. Alexander and Sons in Mooresville.

John is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Gail Robertson Henderson of the home. He also leaves behind two daughters, Elizabeth “Beth” Henderson Perry of Chapel Hill and Maria Henderson McGhee of Goldsboro; his brother, Bill Henderson of Statesville; his sisters, Nancy Cartner of Harmony and Carol Johnson of Statesville; his half brother, John B. Henderson of Minnesota; and half sister, Glenda Harrell of Garner. John was also a proud grandfather to five grandchildren, Ian Perry, Evan Perry, Kelsey Jones, Emma Bradshaw and Layla McGhee.
