Johnny Ray Rhyne, 87, of Statesville, N.C., passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice following a brief illness. Johnny was born in Iredell County on August 26, 1937, to the late John Baxter Rhyne and Clara Broyhill.

He worked machinery at Southern Screw and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Sharpe Rhyne; two brothers, Jean and Harold Rhyne; two sisters, Helen Burdett and Faye Logan; one daughter-in-law Trudy Rhyne; and one son in law Todd Laws.

Survivors include one son, Dennis Rhyne and wife Lorie; two daughters, Kathy Deitz and husband Bruce, and Tina Laws; one sister, Hazel Couick; four grandchildren, Jason Rhyne, Wesley Beaver, Jodie Montaigne, and Samuel Laws; and five great-grandchildren, Draken Beaver, Ryder Rhyne, Jenner Rhyne, Bayleigh Johnson, and Heidi Beaver.

A graveside service will be conducted Monday, May 26, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church. Pastor Jeff Carson will officiate. Pallbearers Jason Rhyne, Wesley Beaver, Samuel Laws, Draken Beaver and Jamie Montaigne. Memorials may be given to Bethel United Methodist Church (168 Lookout Dam Road, Statesville NC 28625) and Hospice of Iredell County (2341 Simonton Road, Statesville NC 28625).
