Kenneth Richard Holestin, born January 24, 1936, in Alleghany County, Va., passed away peacefully of natural causes on May 26, 2025, in Iredell County, N.C., at the age of 89.

Kenneth devoted his career to the textile industry, working diligently as a Tie-End Operator. His work ethic was unparalleled, and he took great pride in his contributions to the industry. Beyond his professional life, Kenneth had a passion for mechanical work, especially when it came to lawn mowers and weed eaters. He spent many joyful hours tinkering and perfecting his machines, a hobby that brought him much satisfaction and peace.

On October 10, 1957, Kenneth married the love of his life, Mildred Elizabeth Lawhorne. Together, they built a beautiful life in Statesville, N.C., where they shared 63 wonderful years. Their union was blessed with five children, Richard Holestin (Nina), Delores Holestin, Patricia Lackey (Danna), Juanita Hunt (Al), and Kenneth Holestin (Patsy).

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Lewis Holestin and Lena Florence Gundy Holestin; his beloved wife Mildred; three brothers, and two sisters.

He is survived by his five children and their spouses; 14 grandchildren, Trey Peacock, Elizabeth Lackey (Larry), Michelle Lackey (Jordan), Alyssa Clark (Mark), Ricky Holestin (Kayla), Teresa Butler (Jeremy), Joann Perez (Michael), John Holestin (Kayla), Lynzie Beltrami (Bobby), and Erin Horne—and numerous cherished great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the Chapel of Nicholson Funeral Home, followed by entombment at Iredell Memorial Park.

Kenneth’s legacy lives on through his family and the memories he created with them. He will be remembered for his dedication, love, and unwavering spirit. May he rest in peace.
