Larry Glenn Ludwig, 82, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on December 25, 2025, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family. Born on February 22, 1943, in Rowan County, he was a son of the late David Glenn Ludwig and Bessie Jarvis Ludwig.

Larry was a proud veteran who served in the National Guard and dedicated his career as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Duke Power Company.

A man of many passions, Larry loved the thrill of hunting, the beauty of classic cars, and the excitement of racing. His laughter and generosity of spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He was a longtime member of the Mooresville Masonic Lodge #496, where he formed a brotherhood that transcended the years.

Larry is lovingly remembered by his children, Robbie Glenn Ludwig (Penny), and Kelly L. Compton (Richard). He is also survived by his brother, Coy Ludwig; his nephew, Brad Shoaf; and his grandchildren, Brett (Becky), David (Emily), Wesley (Morgan), and Curtis (Molly); as well as four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Margaret “Peggy” Melchor Ludwig, daughter, Tammy Brown; son-in-law, Chris Brown; sister, Wendy Shoaf; and brother-in-law, Dan Smith.

The family will honor Larry’s life with a graveside service scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Glenwood Memorial Park, Mooresville. Chaplain Eddie Karriker will officiate the service, providing a moment for family and friends to gather and celebrate the life of a remarkable man. Following the ceremony, the family invites attendees to join them for fellowship at the cemetery, sharing memories and offering support to one another during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Larry’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
