Lethia Troutman Duncan of Statesville, N.C., a beloved educator and artist, passed away peacefully at her residence on May 31, 2025, following a lengthy illness. Born on January 3, 1933, in Iredell County, she touched the lives of many through her passion for teaching and her artistic endeavors.

A proud graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College, Lethia dedicated her life to education, a vocation that brought her immense joy. She not only taught school but also imparted her creative talents through art classes and self-taught piano lessons. Music and art were integral parts of her life, and she loved to share these gifts with others.

Lethia was a member of Grace Alliance Fellowship Church, where her love for singing often resonated with the congregation. Her vibrant spirit and warmth will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

She is survived by her sister, Eleanor Hyde; as well as caregivers Traci Talley, Chelsea Carson, and Lily Plummer, and their extended families, who were like family to her. Lethia also leaves behind other family members who cherished her deeply.

She was preceded in death by her father, Espy Tays Troutman Sr.; her mother, Iola Norris Troutman; her husband, Lynn Hardy; a son, Michael R. Henry; and two daughters, Mary Lynn Henry and Lynn Marie Henry. Lethia also joins several siblings in eternal rest.

Lethia Troutman Duncan’s legacy will live on through the countless lives she influenced and the love she shared with her family and friends. Her memory will forever be a source of inspiration and love.

A graveside service will be held in October, and she will be laid to rest in the Troutman Historical Family Cemetery during the Troutman family reunion.
