Lisa Ruth Church (née Atkinson), 69, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on March 3, 1956, in Methuen, Mass., Lisa was a kind, supportive, and loving soul who devoted her life to her family, whom she cherished deeply. She was known for always showing up for her loved ones – whether with a homemade birthday cake, a listening ear, or a comforting hug. Lisa’s compassion extended far beyond her immediate circle; she was a mom and Nana to anyone who needed one. She loved spending time at the beach and anywhere her family was.

She is survived by her husband, George D. Church Jr.; her daughter, Heather Benge and husband Tony of Mooresville, N.C.; her son, Christopher Church and wife Dana of Lincolnton, N.C.; and her grandchildren, Alyssa Castro, Cameron Church, and William Benge. Lisa also leaves behind many other loving family members and friends who will carry her memory forward.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Thomas Atkinson; her mother, Dora Marie Atkinson (née Arsenault); her sister, Michele Smeester; and her brother, Wayne Atkinson.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 3 to 4 p.m. with a service to follow at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home with Minister Frederick Bickford Jr. officiating. All who knew and loved Lisa are welcome.

Lisa will be deeply missed and forever remembered. To know her was to love her. Her laughter, warmth, and love will echo in our hearts forever.
