Louis Carreira Mello, 93, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at his residence.

He was born on August 19, 1932, in Cambridge, Mass., to the late Louis and Estrella Carreira Mello. Mr. Mello was retired from the U.S. Air Force, serving in Korea and Vietnam. He was also retired from the U.S. Federal Government.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ida Murphy.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Hoyt Mello; son, Michael Mello; stepchildren, Kenneth Braido, John Gallina, Tammy Pate, and Lisa Frye; sister, Edwina Mello; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, December 19, at Salisbury National Cemetery.
