Marcus Dwayne Moran, born on January 28, 1966, in San Francisco, Calif., passed away at the age of 59. Marcus was doing what he loved, working at a landscaping job alongside his employees on Lake Norman, when he suffered a heart attack.

Marcus was preceded in death by Billy Franklin Moran (father), and Skipper Wayne Moran (brother). He is survived by Dana Lou Ryan (mother), Sherri Ann Moran (wife), Morgan Ann Moran (daughter), Michael (Valerie) Moran, brother, Tammy (Kevin) Firestone, sister, and several nieces and nephews whom he showered with love.

Marcus grew up eating, sleeping, and breathing basketball with his dad, older brothers, and friends. In his young adult years, he took a keen interest in landscaping when he started working with his oldest brother, Mike, in Arkansas. Later he moved to Oceanside, Calif., where he worked for the U.S. Postal Service. In 1996, Marcus married his wife Sherri of 29 years. Marcus served in the Army National Guard from 1992-2000. In 2001, his only daughter Morgan was born. Marcus started his own landscaping business in 2006, Northlake Landscapes, which grew into one of the most successful small landscaping businesses in the Lake Norman area. Marcus loved spending time with his family and friends on Lake Norman. Marcus was humble, driven, dedicated, trustworthy, goofy and, most importantly, he loved throughout the community from his customer base, landscaping vendors, employees, church community, and of course, his large extended family.

His motto: Work hard, play hard, love hard.
