With heavy hearts, we share that Margaret M. Reavis, 92, of Statesville, N,C,, passed away on July 5, 2025, with her son, Marvin, by her side.

Born on December 23, 1932, in Iredell County to Calvin Turner and Cordie Upright, she was the second oldest of eight children. She spent most of her working years as a textile worker at Uniglass. She built her life on finding those in need and never asking for anything in return. She found joy in quilting, sewing, and watching the Atlanta Braves in her recliner. If the game came on too late one night, she would be sure to catch the rerun the next day. Austin Riley always reminded her of her late brother Clyde.

Her love will live on through her children, Marvin Speaks, Rodger Speaks (Ann), and Dianne Lassiter (Bill); many grandchildren; great grandchildren; sisters, Ada Martin, Martha Elmore (Jim), and Margie Foye (Mike); brother, Benny Sowers (Amy); and all whose path she crossed.

She was predeceased by her parents, Calvin Turner and Cordie Upright; brothers, Clyde and Robert Turner and George Christie; sister, Ethel Christie; son Ernest Speaks; and husband Hal Reavis Jr.

We’ll gather to celebrate Margaret’s beautiful life at Troutman Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 1 p.m. with a visitation to share memories. Service will begin at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.

Troutman Funeral Home is serving the Reavis family.
