
Martin Andrew Pemberton Jr., 82, of Statesville, N.C., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at the Gordon Hospice House.
Martin was born February 25, 1943, in Williamsburg, Ky., to the late Martin Andrew Pemberton Sr. and Reba Lovett Pemberton. He was a graduate of Cumberland College and Alderson Broaddus University. Prior to retirement, he served as an orthopedic physician’s assistant in Statesville for 30 years. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, and he was also a member of Kiwanis International. Martin enjoyed spending time with his family, singing and playing the guitar.
In addition to his parents, Martin was preceded in death by his first wife, Arlene Reeder Pemberton.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, Diane Setzer Pemberton; sister, Ruth Ann Charles; sons, Jim Pemberton (Lois) and Mark Pemberton (Carrie); stepson, Mike Huff; grandchildren, Luke Pemberton (Lorin), Hope Malvitch (Cassidy), Paul Pemberton, Ruth Loos (Don), Anna Pemberton, Julia Pemberton, Morgan Huff and Landon Huff (Silvia); and step-grandchildren, Mallory and Cole Prichard.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Troutman with Rev. Dieter Punt officiating. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 3 until 4 p.m. A private burial will be held at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
