Mary Bunton Emery, 99, of Statesville, N.C., passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the Gordon Hospice House following an extended illness. Mary was born in Alexander County on January 1, 1926, to the late William Alfred Bunton and Onor Gay McCurdy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Everette Bunton, William M. Bunton (Bud), and Gurney Bunton; one infant son, John David Bunton, and son, Durward Emery Jr.

Survivors include three sons, James Emory (Doris) of Statesville, N.C., Gary Emery (Renee) of Gibsonville, N.C., and Danny Emery (Annie) of Whitsett, N.C.; three daughters, Ann McDaniel (Jeff) of Siler City, N.C., Barbara Emery of Liberty, N.C., and Denise Brinkley of Whitsett, N.C.; one brother, Leonard Bunton (Shirley) of Statesville, N.C.; twelve grandchildren, Scott Emery, Crystal E. Sloan, Michael Emery, Tina Reed, William (Billy) Reed, Richard Brinkley, Christopher Emery, Tina C., Brandie E. Strang, Craig Emery, Kenneth (Ken) McDaniel, and Greg McDaniel; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 3 p.m. at Pilgrim Baptist Church cemetery (965 Pilgrim Church Road, Hiddenite, NC 28636). There will be a private family viewing one hour prior to the service. Pastor Noah Alvarez will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorials to be sent to Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County (2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625) and Brookdale East Broad (244 East Broad Street, Statesville, NC, 28625).
