Mary Elizabeth Ballard Mayfield, 91, was born Rowan County, N.C., on April 26, 1934, to the late Haskell Ballard and Jessie Mae Kraft. She was married to Robert Lewis Mayfield, who preceded her in death.

Mary attended R A Clement School and Unity High School. She worked at a chair company on the assembly line as a sander. Mary attended Third Creek Baptist Church, where she was a Deaconess, and a member of the Senior Choir and the Golden Stars. She will truly be missed.

Mary Elizabeth leaves to cherish the memory of her life one daughter, Tosura (John) Camp of Statesville; one son, Robert (Samantha) Mayfield, of Roswell, Ga.; and one sister, Margaret Elaine Ballard Williams, of Lawrence, Ga..; six grandchildren, Dartavius Martin, Jayden Martin, Aaron Weber Mayfield, Sophie Mayfield, Kamiya Jon Camp, and Ja Shawn Camp; two great grandchildren, Messiah Martin and Kayson Martin; a brother-in-law, JQ Norman; a special nephew, Dewayne Norman; a special niece, who she raised, Annie Mayfield of Lincolnton, N.C.; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, church members, other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Third Creek Baptist Church in Alexander County, N.C. Visitation will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 20. The eulogy will follow with Reverend Carpenter delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Third Creek Church cemetery.
