Mary Thompson, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful servant of God passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025.
Mary was born in Iredell County, N.C. on December 28, 1947, to the late Quincy Houpe and Mary Joyce Sherrill Houpe. Mary was married to Ned Thompson Jr. for 50 beautiful years.
For 33 years, Mary worked at Wendy’s, where she greeted everyone with a warm smile and a kind word. Her work ethic and compassion made a lasting impression on both co-workers and customers alike.
Even more than her professional life, Mary was known for her spiritual devotion. She preached the Gospel for 51 years, spreading the word of God with grace, strength, and humility. Her faithfulness to God and her church was paramount—truly second to none. No matter the challenges she faced, Mary never wavered in her belief or her mission.
Mary’s warmth and joy were ever-present, even during her lowest moments. She had a smile for everyone and made every person feel seen and loved. Her faith-filled life was a beacon of hope and inspiration to all who knew her.
Above all, Mary cherished her family. She was a loving matriarch who poured her heart into her children, grandchildren, and especially her great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride.
She was preceded in death by her parents; twin children Mary and Terry; great grandson, William Dalton; and nephew John “Ricky” Daniels Jr.
