Michael Wayne Warren, 79, of Statesville, N.C., was born on August 20, 1946, and peacefully went to be with our Lord on December 24, 2025, Christmas Eve, surrounded by his loving family.

Just as the Christmas story tells of a quiet night filled with hope, light, and the promise of eternal life, Michael’s passing came softly and peacefully, marking a homecoming to the faith he lived every day. On the night the world celebrates the birth of Christ, Michael entered into the presence of the Savior he faithfully served, a fitting reflection of a life devoted to kindness, humility, and love.

Michael was born in Statesville and was a graduate of Cool Spring High School in Iredell County. He later continued his education as a graduate of Mitchell Community College in Statesville. Michael answered the call to serve his country when he was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of Sergeant. His sense of duty, integrity, and service shaped every chapter of his life.

A true servant of God, Michael was known as a kind soul who never hesitated to help others. He lived his faith quietly but powerfully, offering compassion, generosity, and steady encouragement to all who crossed his path. Michael was a devoted member of Topsail Presbyterian Church in Hampstead, N.C., and was also a former member of his parents’ church, St. Paul Lutheran Church in Statesville.

Michael is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Susan Warren; his daughter Michelle Duffy and son-in-law Darren Duffy; his son Alan Warren and daughter-in-law Jamie Warren; his brother James Warren and sister-in-law Jane Warren; and his cherished grandchildren, Bryson Duffy, Elise Duffy, Xander Warren, Maddox Warren, and Lydia Warren, each of whom brought him immense pride and joy. He is also lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, who held a special place in his heart.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Warren, and his mother, Mary Warren, both of Statesville.

Michael Wayne Warren will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his servant’s heart, and the quiet strength with which he loved his family and community. Though his earthly journey has ended, his legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the faith he so faithfully lived.

A graveside committal will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Salisbury National Cemetery.
