
Migdalia Robaina Sanchez, 84, of Mooresville, N.C., and formerly of Miami, Fla., suddenly passed away on October 23, 2025. She was born on June 30, 1941, in Matanzas, Cuba.
Migdalia immigrated to New York from Cuba in 1971 in order to give her son a better life. For many years she worked as a union electronics manufacturing worker and later in the food industry. She will be remembered for her life in service to others and her adoration for her son, three grandchildren, and family.
Migdalia loved flowers, gardening, sewing, shopping, and music. Most important to Migdalia was spending time with her son and family. She will always be remembered as an outstanding mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.
She was preceded in death by husband, Luis Sanchez; father, Candido Robaina; mother, Eufemia Sara Nieves; and sister, Candida Robaina.
Migdalia is survived by her son, Evelio Martinez, and his wife Sylvia; grandchildren Jason Martinez, Matthew Martinez, and Emily Martinez; siblings, Jose Ramon Robaina, Celestina Robaina, Maria Robaina, Miriam Fernandez, and Isabel Lopez; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 29, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. with a service following at 10:30 a.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, 494 E. Plaza Drive, Mooresville, NC 28115. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the Salisbury National Cemetery.
