Nancy Jo Lazenby Goforth, 91, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Friday, July 18, 2025, at her home.
Nancy was born on January 5, 1934, to the late Joseph Parks Lazenby and Beulah Caroline Cheek Lazenby. She married James Thomas Goforth, who passed in 2001. She was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church.
She worked for many years as a seamstress at Firefly Balloon Works sewing hot air balloons. She was also a Davis Hospital volunteer and worked at several nursing homes in the kitchen and as a CNA. Nancy enjoyed being outside sitting and watching birds and loved planting flowers.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Dianne Bruce Beck (Bill) of Harmony, Robert Joe Goforth (Trudy) of Statesville, and Jane G. Witherspoon (Travis) of Thomasville; grandchildren, Joshua Witherspoon (Jalyn) and Elizabeth Josey (Cody); great-grandchildren, Amber Fuqua, Ian Fuqua, Kenny Buie, Bryan Buie, Emmy Buie, Anthony Buie, Davey Witherspoon, and Declan Witherspoon; and great-great-granddaughter, June Virginia Day Buie.
In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by her sisters, Alice Carolyn Goforth (Hoyle) and Evelee Ellis (Billy); and two granddaughters, Sonia Buie and Heather Witherspoon.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Troutman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Myers officiating. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 1 until 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to thank special hospice staff, CNA Crystal Brown, RN Katrina Erwin and Jo Ann Ward, for their care over the last three years.
