Norris Charles Childers, 71, of Taylorsville, N.C., passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2025, at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He was born August 10, 1954, in Alexander County, the son of the late Lawson Childers and Evelyn Powell Childers.

Norris was self employed as owner and operator of a tree service business. Earlier business ventures were Mobile Home Brokers and Video World. He attended the Taylorsville Church of God. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, loved piddling around the house, and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a jack-of-all-trades. He also enjoyed going to Harbor Freight with his son Nick.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Doris Castleberry, Barbara Gunnarson, and Martha Oliver; his brother, Maurice Childers; and two infant siblings.

Those left to honor and cherish his memories include his wife, Nicole Carter Childers, who he had been together with for 23 years; his daughters, Amy Childers Connelly (Taye) of Granite Falls, and Melissa Childers Andolina (Jon) of Nashville, Tenn.; his son, Nicholas Charles Childers of the home; his grandchildren, Nolen Andolina, Ansley Andolina, Jolene Andolina, Jerri Parson, Jermichael Parson, Jervane Parson, Jerron Flowers, Jermiah Parsons, Jasson Caldwell, Karmah Clake, Montae Clarke, and Tayvian Connelly; five great grandchildren; his brothers, Reese Childers (Margaret) of Taylorsville, Stanley Childers of Taylorsville, and William Childers (Cathy) of Taylorsville; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The funeral service will be held 5 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at Bethel Baptist Church. Pastor Mark Albertino and Pastor Taylor Miller will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 until 5 p.m. prior to the service.

Pallbearers will include Nick Childers, Eric Childers, Jonathan Childers, Justin Childers, Bryce Childers and Ben Lewis.
