Peter DiPrima passed away peacefully at Gordon Hospice in Statesville, N.C., on September 9, 2025, at the age of 92. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on New Year’s Eve in 1932 to the late Damiano and Guiseppina DiPrima. Peter was predeceased by his sister Ann and daughter-in-law Kim.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Kathleen of Mooresville, N.C.; three children, Stephen and his wife Tammy of Hastings, Mich., daughter, Marie of Mooresville, N.C., and son Peter and his wife Linda of Carolina Beach, N.C. Pete is survived by eight grandchildren, Paul, Christopher and Katherine DiPrima; Nicholas.Lucas and Kara Kochek; and Gunnar Goslin and Chandler Brown, He is also survived by his brother Joseph DiPrima, brother-in-law William Marchese and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Peter grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y., and was a graduate of Franklin K Lane High School, a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy and a graduate of St John’s University. Married in 1959, Peter and Kathleen moved to Pleasantville, N.Y., in 1964, where they raised their family and resided for 53 years, before moving to their current residence in Mooresville. A hard worker, Pete loved to tell stories about working at a very young age, delivering newspapers and working for a local butcher. After the Navy, Pete held a variety of jobs while going to night school. He joined General Foods in 1959, working in finance until he retired in 1989.

Pete loved raising his family in Pleasantville. An active member of the community, he coached Dad’s Club sports and served as a volunteer fireman for over 40 years. Pete was a life-long Yankees fan and enjoyed sports of all kinds. An avid tennis player into his mid-eighties, he also enjoyed playing softball and golf and was an excellent bowler. Every summer for over a decade he also looked forward to spending a week at The Big Grouper in Carolina Beach with his children and grandchildren.

Peter will be remembered as a loving and generous husband, father, grandfather, cousin, godfather and friend who cared deeply for the family and friends in his life.

Services will be held in Mooresville, NC in the near future. Details will be shared once finalized.
