Robert Wayne Austin, 79, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025, at his home.

He was born on January 2, 1946, in Southport, N.C., to the late Robert and Hilda Austin. Mr. Austin was a veteran serving proudly in the U.S. Coast Guard for 16 years, where he grew the love for all things nautical in his early years. He was a devoted member, volunteer, and worked for 20 years with The Cove Church in Mooresville. He was a member of the Amateur Radio Club for 40 years with his call sign being N4CLH. Mr. Austin was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Susan McCray Austin; children, Darren R. Austin (Lindsay), Tracey Herring (Chad), and Rana Stuelke (Scott); grandchildren, Austin Henderson (Olivia), Tyler Stuelke, Jacob Henderson (Sarah), Emily Stuelke, Christian Henderson, and Darren Austin; great grandchildren, Emersyn Henderson and Eden Henderson; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, December 20, at The Cove Church, Mooresville, with Rev. Mike Madding and Rev. Will Kranz officiating.
