Rufus Eugene Dulin, 72, affectionately known as “Skimp,” was born in Iredell County, N.C., to the late Rufus Glover and Mary Etta Dulin Turner on July 6, 1953. He entered into eternal life on Monday, September 15, 2025, at Iredell Memorial Hospital. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Rufus Donnell Griffin and Carlus Griffin; one grandson, Freeman Jacobi Wells; one granddaughter, Christina Ramseur; three brothers, Gary Dean Dulin, Keith D. Davidson, and Walter Leon Lindsey; one sister, Teresa Dulin; a brother-in-law, Clifton Murdock; and one son-in-law, Patrick Watts.

He was a graduate of Statesville High School, and he served in the United States Marine Corp. Skimp worked as a handyman, doing yardwork. He was loved by many and will truly be missed.

Rufus leaves to cherish the memories of his life two daughters, Toni Watts of Mass and Teresa (Kenya) Rankins of Statesville; one son, Marcus Rankins of Charlotte; his brothers, Jeff (Linda) Turner, Steven (Jean) Dulin, Roy J. Davidson, Stephen Howell, Darren Glover, Reginald Glover, Christopher Glover, Roger Glover, Steven Glover, Wallace Turner Jr., Jeffrey (Linda) Turner, Conrad Glover, Tony (Tasha) Glover, and Wilbur Turner Jr.; his sisters, Sandra Roseboro, Elizabeth Davidson, Tara Murdock, Cynthia Glover, Christine Glover and Missy Glover; grandchildren, Darren (Talitha) Griffin, Tarren (Naiessha) Griffin, Candice Ramseur, Christopher Moore Jr., Tyrell Rankins, and Shaeem Miller; great grandchildren, Javonte’ Chambers, Sierra Griffin, Jacolbi Ramseur, Jahzire Wilson, Aaliyah Wells, JaNylah Wells, Dallas Wells, August Wells, Greyln Griffin, Aayna Griffin, Darren Griffin Jr., Sha’Mirr Miller, Christian Miller and Giyani Griffin; one great, great, grandchild, Jaiquees Sharpe; a god daughter, April Allison Ramseur; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025, at Rutledge and Bigham Mortuary, Statesville, N.C. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Pastor Tawanna Myers will deliver the eulogy at 2 p.m. Mr. Dulin will laid to rest on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at the National VA Cemetery, Salisbury, N.C., at 12:30 pm.
