Ruth West Christenbury, 88, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Monday, August 11, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 20, 1937, in Rowan County, N.C., to the late Robert and Maxa Fisher West.

Ruth was a longtime member of Centre Presbyterian Church in Mooresville. She had a lifelong passion of using her spiritual gift of service, serving her church, family, friends and patients. Ruth was a registered nurse for 45 years, starting her career at Lowrance, moving to Lake Norman Regional and then retiring with Iredell Memorial Hospital. Always thinking of others, she ran her race well. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” 2 Timothy 4:7, and the Lord said “Well done, good and faithful servant!” Mathew 25:21.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Leroy Christenbury Jr.; brothers, Ralph West, Henry West, and J.C. West; and sisters, Ruby Smith, Ann Moore, Geraldine Bailey and Irene Malcolm.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Ann Christenbury; her son, Chris Christenbury (Frances); granddaughters, Holly Christenbury and Brooke Kassouf (Adam); great-grandchildren, Levi and Olivia Kassouf; sister, Shirley Snider (Ralph); and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 15, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon with a Celebration of Life service following at 12 noon at Centre Presbyterian Church, Mooresville, with Rev. Logan Keck and Rev. Norman Black officiating. A graveside service will be held immediately following the service in the church cemetery.
