Sharon Yvonne “Sheri” Ware of Mooresville, N.C., and formerly of Modesto, Calif., died from her ongoing battle with cancer on Monday, September 1, 2025. She was at home comforted by her cat Oscar and family. She was born September 19, 1946, in San Jose, Calif., daughter of the late Rev. Raymond Murray and Ferne Murray.

As a natural extrovert, Sheri never met a stranger. She kept those around her laughing with her humorous stories and perspective on life. Her passion for animals led her to start her own successful pet-sitting business, “Sheri’s Happy at Home.” Her pet-sitting services were widely sought after, especially around the holidays. Sheri worked zealously as she took care of her clients’ “babies” and pursued excellence in all that she did.

Sheri led an adventurous life and loved the thrill of skydiving. She did 105 jumps and wished to do more. She did trick water skiing, rode motorcycles and loved fast cars. Sheri loved the ocean and marine life and was especially fond of Hawaii. She would often end her busy day with a glass of wine and the companionship of her friends or cat.

Most important to her was her family, and she will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted sister, aunt and friend.

Sheri leaves many fond memories to be cherished by her survivors, including her brother Ronald Murray and wife Kandy of Mooresville, N.C., brother, William “Bill” Murray and wife Jennie of Arroyo Grande, Calif., niece, Ronda Hart and husband Brent of Mooresville, N.C., great nieces, Heather Hart and Holly Floyd and families of Statesville, N.C., nephews, Rodney Murray and Lance Murray of Texas and their families, and niece, Trina McGuire and her family of California and nephew, Jeff Murray of California, and a host of other family and close friends.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all the Hospice nurses, physicians and staff, Jenlei’s caregivers, her neighbors and friends for their unwavering compassionate and supportive care they provided. Your kindness and love will never be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Iredell County Hospice, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625 and Lake Norman Humane, 2106 Charlotte Hwy, Mooresville, NC 28117.
